Presidential Staffer Beatrice Annan has condemned the alleged sexual abuse of female students at Obuasi Senior High Technical School (SHTS) by the Headmaster.
Her comment follows the release of an investigative story titled 'Inside the Dreaded Headmaster's Bungalow', in which some female students of the school accuse the Headmaster of sexual assault.
The investigation also reveals that the cases have been concealed with attempted bribes in some cases to protect the image of the accused teacher.
Reacting to this in a social media post on Monday, October 19, she described the allegations as disturbing and unacceptable, stressing that students deserved protection rather than exploitation.
“The sexual abuse allegations at Obuasi Senior High Technical School are deeply disturbing and utterly unacceptable,” she wrote.
Ms Annan called for accountability, insisting that the matter should not be covered up or allowed to go unpunished.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has interdicted Mr Abdulai pending investigations, following a directive by Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu for his immediate suspension.
The police have also been asked to investigate the allegations.
The controversy has also raised concerns about the handling of complaints within the education system, following reports that some allegations had been brought to the attention of education officials months before the headmaster’s suspension.
