Ghana U-23 head coach Desmond Ofei has named his final 23-man squad for the Black Meteors' 2027 CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying encounter against Libya.
The squad features eight foreign-based players, with Barcelona B youngster Aziz Issah among the headline selections as Ghana prepare for the first leg of the two-legged tie in Benghazi on Wednesday, November 11, 2026.
Issah will be joined by David Oduro of French side Annecy, Oscar Frimpong of Real Madrid II, Aaron Essel of Sacramento Republic FC and Phyenyin-Denis Marfo of SC Internacional.
Lord Afrifa of SC Austria Lustenau, Joseph Opoku of Swansea City and Dan Adu-Adjei of HNK Rijeka complete the list of overseas-based players.
Ofei has also included several home-based talents as he looks to assemble a squad capable of securing qualification for the next round.
Among those selected are Hubert Gyau and Emmanuel Sanja of Asante Kotoko, Kelvin Nkrumah of Medeama SC, Alidu Labaran of Vision FC and Raymond Agyemang of Aduana FC.
Ishmael Addo of Heart of Lions, Eric Wiafe of Swedru All Blacks, Owusu Ansah of Port City FC and Firdaus Mohammed of Steadfast FC are also part of the squad.
The Black Meteors will be aiming to secure a positive result across the two legs to progress to the next qualifying round, where they will meet either Equatorial Guinea or Niger.
The qualification campaign consists of three rounds, with seven teams set to join hosts Egypt for the eight-team tournament in 2027.
For Ghana, the competition represents an opportunity to end a lengthy absence from men's Olympic football.
The West African nation last featured at the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004, where the Black Meteors competed in the men's football tournament.
A successful qualification campaign would put Ghana back on course for a return to the Olympic stage, with the 2027 U-23 AFCON serving as the qualifying competition for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
