DStv Ghana has introduced four new subscription packages, with prices starting at GH¢50, as part of efforts to make its pay-TV services more affordable and accessible to customers.
The revamped offering, branded Expect More, was unveiled at the premises of MultiChoice Ghana in Accra on Wednesday, November 4.
The changes form part of a new strategy by the company to simplify its subscription structure while giving customers access to more entertainment and sports content at lower prices.
Under the new arrangement, the former DStv Access package has been renamed Starter, Family becomes Select, Compact is now Sports, while Premium has been rebranded Ultimate.
The Starter package will cost GH¢50, with Select priced at GH¢200. Sports subscribers will pay GH¢250, while Ultimate, the highest-tier package, will cost GH¢570.
Speaking at the launch, MultiChoice Ghana's Head of Communications, Afua Kissi Ashong, expressed excitement about the new offering and assured subscribers of an improved viewing experience.
"I'm particularly excited about this new challenge, and we will have exciting things for you," she said.
MultiChoice Ghana Country Manager, Alex Okyere, described the changes as an evolution of the company's subscription model rather than a complete restructuring.
"This new package is not about restructuring but evolution. We are the best platform in Africa, but we are also customer-centric. There is more on these packages, and our customers get to pay less," he said.
Mr Okyere said the revamped packages were designed to reflect changing viewing habits while improving access to entertainment and live sports.
"Our focus is on giving subscribers better value and access to the entertainment they love," he added.
He explained that the company had reduced its previous five subscription options to four, with existing subscribers automatically transferred to their corresponding packages.
Customers on the former Access package will move to Starter, while Family subscribers will be transferred to Select. Those on Compact will move to Sports, with existing Compact Plus and Premium subscribers transitioning to Ultimate.
DStv has also announced a uniform price of GH¢99 for its dish and bouquet, which will be available through authorised dealers and more than 300 distributors nationwide.
The launch attracted several media personalities and representatives from various media organisations.
The new packages offer a range of content, including live football, Hollywood and Nollywood movies, television series and lifestyle programming.
DStv Ghana says the changes are aimed at simplifying subscription choices, improving affordability and delivering greater value to its customers.
