Austrian Bundesliga side SK Rapid Vienna have rewarded Ghanaian winger Daniel Nunoo with an improved contract following his impressive performances at the club.
The 20-year-old has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the Allianz Stadion until the end of the 2029/30 season, despite having had a deal that was due to expire next summer.
Rapid Vienna managing director Markus Katzer has explained that the decision to extend Nunoo's contract early was influenced by his exceptional talent, professionalism and attitude during a difficult period.
Speaking to the club's official website after the agreement was finalised, Katzer praised the youngster's commitment and expressed confidence in his potential to become an important member of the first team.
"Daniel Nunoo is a perfect fit for our team. He behaved impeccably during what was a particularly difficult time for him recently and worked hard every single day," Katzer said.
"Like our coach Johannes Hoff Thorup, I am convinced that Daniel possesses exceptional potential and can become an even more important part of our team in the medium term.
"I am delighted that we have already been able to finalise the formalities for the contract extension we have always sought, and I look forward to seeing him back on the wing in our matches as soon as possible."
Nunoo joined Rapid Vienna from Ghanaian side Shooting Stars FC in September 2024 for an undisclosed fee.
He initially featured for the club's reserve team, where he made an immediate impression, scoring three goals in 25 league appearances.
His performances also caught the attention of the club's technical team during the UEFA Youth League, where he scored once in four appearances.
One of his standout moments came against Swiss side FC Basel, when he found the net in a crucial encounter to further underline his attacking qualities.
His impressive displays earned him promotion to the senior team, where he registered one goal and one assist in five appearances before an injury disrupted his progress.
The right-footed winger is expected to return to action later this month as Rapid Vienna continue their pursuit of the Austrian Bundesliga title.
Although he is yet to represent Ghana at any level, Nunoo's growing reputation in Austria could put him in contention for a maiden invitation to the Ghana Under-23 national team.
