Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has revealed that the country's 20 national football teams have been sharing a single bus purchased in 2008, which is now out of service.

Okraku disclosed the situation while appearing before Parliament's Select Committee on Youth and Sports on Wednesday, November 4, where he outlined some of the logistical and infrastructural challenges confronting Ghanaian football.

According to the GFA president, the bus was acquired in 2008 and has since served all the country's national teams, including the senior men's and women's sides, the Black Stars and Black Queens, as well as the other 18 national teams.

However, the vehicle has now broken down, forcing the football association to hire buses to transport its teams.

Okraku said the GFA had to rent a bus during the most recent international window because its only vehicle was no longer operational.

“Your Black Stars, your Black Queens, and the 18 other national teams that we do have, have access to one bus that was purchased by the FA in the year 2008. Twenty national teams using one bus. Now the bus is broken, so during the last international window the FA had to rent a bus,” he said.

The revelation highlights the resource constraints facing the GFA as it seeks to improve the organisation and performance of the country's national teams.

Okraku described the lack of basic logistical support as one of the fundamental challenges undermining the development of Ghanaian football.

He argued that building a sustainable football ecosystem would require investment in essential infrastructure and resources, insisting that the country's inability to address such challenges had contributed to its struggles to achieve consistent success over the years.

“So if we want to create a sustained football ecosystem, these are the fundamentals. These are the reasons why we've not had sustained and continuous victorious stories over generations. These are the hard truths,” he added.
