Black Queens have been shortlisted for the Women’s Team of the Year award at the 2026 CAF Awards following their campaign at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

The Black Queens earned a place among the 10 nominees after reaching the quarter-finals of the tournament, where they finished among the continent’s leading sides.

Ghana will face competition from African champions Cameroon, runners-up Malawi, hosts Morocco, South Africa and former champions Nigeria.

Cameroon earned their nomination following their historic triumph at the 2026 WAFCON, where the Indomitable Lionesses were crowned African champions.

The remaining nominees are Algeria, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire and Mali.

The shortlist brings together national teams from across the continent in recognition of their performances and contributions to women’s football during the year.

The winner will be announced at the 2026 CAF Awards ceremony, scheduled for Monday, December 7, in Lagos, Nigeria.
