Turkish coach Kasim Gokyildiz has resigned as head coach of Heart of Lions after just eight matches into the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
The Kpando-based club have struggled for consistency this season, recording just one win in their opening eight league matches to collect eight points.
Their poor start has left them just one point above the relegation zone, increasing the pressure on the team to improve their performances.
Gokyildiz returned to Ghana ahead of the campaign after signing a one-year contract with Heart of Lions, with an option for renewal.
He was appointed following the departure of experienced Ghanaian coach Bashir Hayford, whose contract expired at the end of his spell with the club.
The Turkish trainer previously managed King Faisal, Bechem United and Hohoe United before taking charge of Heart of Lions.
His resignation leaves the club searching for a new head coach as they attempt to revive their campaign and move away from the relegation battle.
Heart of Lions will face Bechem United at the Kpando Stadium on Sunday in their Matchday Nine fixture, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00 GMT.
The match presents an opportunity for the club to respond to their difficult start as they begin life without Gokyildiz in charge.
