Senegal will have to wait until the end of November to learn the outcome of their appeal against the decision to award Morocco the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has confirmed.
The appeal hearing took place behind closed doors at CAS headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, on Thursday, 8 October.
CAS says the panel overseeing the case is still deliberating, with a final decision expected at the end of November.
The ruling will determine the outcome of Senegal’s challenge to the decision to award Morocco the continental title.
The dispute has placed the outcome of the 2025 AFCON tournament under further scrutiny, with Senegal seeking to overturn the decision in Morocco’s favour.
The closed-door hearing allowed the parties to present their arguments before the arbitration panel, which is now considering the case before reaching its verdict.
CAS has not announced a specific date for the decision, but the end of November is the current expected timeframe.
The ruling is likely to be closely followed across African football, given the significance of the AFCON title and the implications of the dispute for the two nations.
Until the panel reaches its decision, the appeal remains unresolved, leaving Senegal and Morocco awaiting the next development in the case.
