Aduana FC General Manager Takyi Arhin has backed Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kurt Okraku to remain in office despite growing calls for his resignation, insisting that he will support his third-term bid.

Okraku has come under increased pressure following a series of disappointing results by Ghana's senior national team, the Black Stars.

Ghana failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and have made a difficult start to their 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign.

The Black Stars lost 2-0 away to Côte d'Ivoire before suffering a 4-2 defeat by The Gambia, leaving them bottom of Group C without a point after two matches.

Ghana's struggles have also extended to the youth level, with the country failing to qualify for several recent FIFA youth World Cup tournaments.

However, Arhin, popularly known as "Thunder", has defended Okraku and dismissed calls for the GFA president to step down.

"Anyone who wants to contest Kurt Okraku is welcome, but I can assure you that it’ll be an exercise in futility," Arhin told Sporty FM.

"If Kurt Okraku decides to contest, I’ll support his third-term bid. I even want more people to join the race, so they’ll lose their votes.

"A lot of people are sitting on the fence, waiting for Kurt Okraku to fail so that they jump in.

"I just want to tell them that if they’ve not joined us, they’ll sit on the fence till thy kingdom come."

Okraku was first elected GFA president in October 2019 and was re-elected for a second term in 2023.
