The Ghana government and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) have agreed to establish a technical committee to oversee the appointment of the next Black Stars head coach.
The decision was reached at a meeting between government officials and the GFA at the Sports Ministry on Friday, 2 October.
The meeting followed Ghana's poor start to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign, with the Black Stars losing their opening two Group C matches.
Ghana began the campaign with a 2-0 defeat by Ivory Coast before suffering a 4-2 loss to The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Black Stars had taken a two-goal lead against The Gambia but conceded four times to leave them without a point after two matches.
The results prompted Carlos Queiroz to step down as head coach after the defeat by The Gambia.
Following Friday's meeting, it was agreed that a technical committee comprising representatives from the government and the GFA would be responsible for the process of selecting his successor.
No timeline has yet been announced for the appointment.
The Black Stars are expected to regroup next month for a double-header in the AFCON qualifiers, with both matches scheduled to be played at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Ghana are attempting to secure a return to the continental tournament after missing the 2025 edition in Morocco.
The 2027 AFCON finals will be hosted jointly by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
