Black Princesses return home after another group-stage exit at U-20 Women's World Cup [PHOTOS]

Ghana's Black Princesses have returned home following their elimination from the ongoing FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup after failing to progress beyond the group stage.

The West Africans endured a difficult campaign, opening their tournament with a 3-0 defeat by Ecuador before bouncing back with an impressive 3-1 victory over South Korea.

However, their hopes of reaching the knockout stage were dashed in their final group match as they suffered a heavy 4-0 loss to France.

The Black Princesses finished the group phase with three points from their three matches, a tally that proved insufficient to secure qualification to the next round.

Despite making their eighth consecutive appearance at the biennial competition, the Black Princesses have once again been unable to advance beyond the first round.

It marks the eighth successive edition of the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in which Ghana have exited at the group stage, extending their wait for a place in the knockout rounds.

The team will now turn its attention to future competitions as Ghana seeks to build on the positives from its victory over South Korea and end its long-standing group-stage struggles on the global stage.
