2027 AFCON Qualifiers: Niger to play home games at Accra Sports Stadium after NSA approval

Niger will play their home matches in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at the Accra Sports Stadium after receiving approval from Ghana to use the venue.

The West African nation is currently unable to host CAF or FIFA-sanctioned international matches on home soil because none of its stadiums meets the governing bodies' required standards.

The Nigerien Football Federation requested permission to stage its home qualifiers in Accra, extending a period of playing competitive fixtures outside the country. During the previous AFCON qualifying campaign, Niger hosted its home matches in Morocco.

Niger have been drawn in Group A alongside Morocco, Gabon and Lesotho, with their opponents now set to travel to Ghana's capital as the Mena pursue a place at the 2027 finals.

The arrangement comes after the Accra Sports Stadium regained CAF approval following months of renovation work carried out by Ghana's National Sports Authority, restoring the venue's status as the country's approved stadium for international fixtures.

Niger begin their qualifying campaign against Lesotho in Accra on 25 September before travelling to face Gabon four days later.

The top two teams from each qualifying group will qualify for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda from 19 June to 17 July 2027.
