2027 AFCON Qualifiers: Carlos Queiroz’s squad for Ivory Coast and Gambia games waiting for approval – Henry Asante Twum

Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has submitted his squad for Ghana's upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, with the final list expected to be announced this week.

Ghana Football Association communications director Henry Asante Twum said the squad is currently going through the association's approval process before invitations are sent to the selected players.

The four-time African champions begin their qualifying campaign with a difficult away match against Ivory Coast in Bouaké on 24 September before hosting The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium five days later.

Speaking in an interview last week, Asante Twum explained that the squad must first be approved by the GFA's Management Committee before receiving final clearance from the Executive Council.

"Coach Carlos Queiroz has submitted his squad for the upcoming games, and it is currently going through the required processes," he said.

"It will first go before the Management Committee and then the Executive Council. Once all the necessary processes have been completed, invitations will be sent to the selected players.

"Hopefully, the squad will be officially announced next week."

The two qualifiers will be among Queiroz's first competitive assignments as Ghana seek a return to the Africa Cup of Nations after failing to qualify for the previous edition.
