'Underperforming' Kurt Okraku should not compare himself with Kwesi Nyantakyi - George Afriyie

Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) vice-president George Afriyie has launched strong criticism of GFA president Kurt Okraku, saying he has failed to meet expectations and is unwilling to accept criticism.

Afriyie also described former GFA president Kwasi Nyantakyi as the association's greatest leader, arguing that his achievements in office remain unmatched.

His comments come amid ongoing debate over the direction of Ghana football under Okraku's administration.

Speaking on Atinka TV, Afriyie praised Nyantakyi's record during his 13-year spell in charge of the GFA.

"Forget Kurt Okraku. Kwasi Nyantakyi is the best GFA President ever," Afriyie said.

"Nyantakyi's achievements as GFA President are an open secret, and nobody can discount them. Kurt is not performing but hates criticism."

Afriyie said Nyantakyi's tenure had set a benchmark against which future GFA administrations should be judged, despite the different challenges each leadership team has faced.

Nyantakyi served as GFA president from 2005 until 2018, when he resigned from his football administration roles following the release of the Number 12 investigative documentary, which exposed alleged corruption in Ghana football.
