Richard Boadu is a great addition to our squad - Kotoko football director Stanley Menzo

Asante Kotoko's Director of Football, Stanley Menzo, says the club is confident Richard Boadu will make an immediate impact after the midfielder returned on a two-year deal ahead of the 2026-27 Ghana Premier League season.

Boadu rejoined the Porcupine Warriors after three years in Libya, where he played for Al Ahly Benghazi and later Al Tahaddy Sporting Club.

Menzo believes the former captain's leadership and familiarity with the club make him an important addition to Eric Tinkler's squad.

"His training sessions were excellent, and he possesses the qualities required for that role," Menzo told the club's official website.

"His understanding of the game and leadership skills on the field make him a great addition.

"He has been here before and knows exactly what the fans want, and we are confident he will deliver."

Boadu enjoyed a successful first spell at Kotoko, helping the club win its 26th Ghana Premier League title before being named captain.

He made 32 appearances across all competitions, including the CAF Champions League, scoring two goals before joining Al Ahly Benghazi in July 2023.

The midfielder later moved to Al Tahaddy Sporting Club, where he featured in 21 league matches and scored once during the 2024-25 season.

His return is expected to bolster Kotoko's midfield as the club prepares for a new era under South African coach Eric Tinkler.

Kotoko will begin their 2026-27 league campaign away to newly promoted Debibi United, with Boadu set to play a central role in the club's bid for silverware.
