Ghana midfielder Elisha Owusu has completed a permanent move from French club AJ Auxerre to newly promoted Turkish Super Lig side Erzurumspor FK.

The 28-year-old ends a three-and-a-half-year spell at Auxerre after signing for Erzurumspor, who are preparing for their return to Turkey's top flight.

Owusu joined Auxerre from Belgian club KAA Gent in January 2023 for a reported fee of 500,000 euros and went on to establish himself as a key figure in the club's midfield.

His influence on and off the pitch saw him appointed captain before the start of last season.

The Ghana international leaves with a year remaining on his contract, with Auxerre reportedly receiving 1 million euros, excluding bonuses, for the transfer.

His departure follows months of speculation over his future, with Owusu left out of the starting line-up for Auxerre's recent 1-0 pre-season victory over Werder Bremen.

The move gives Owusu his first opportunity to play in Turkish football after previous spells in France and Belgium.

As Erzurumspor prepare for life in the Super Lig, the experienced midfielder is expected to bring leadership and defensive stability to the newly promoted side while continuing his involvement with Ghana's national team.
