Ghana international defender Abdul Mumin has completed a move to Spanish La Liga side Girona FC on a free transfer ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The 28-year-old centre-back has signed a three-year contract with Girona, bringing an end to his spell with fellow Spanish club Rayo Vallecano.
Mumin's arrival is expected to strengthen Girona's defensive options after a number of changes to the club's backline during the summer transfer window.
The defender began his football development at Ghana's renowned Right to Dream Academy before moving to Europe to pursue his professional career.
He spent important periods of his development with Danish club FC Nordsjaelland and Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes before moving to Spain in 2022 to join Rayo Vallecano.
Mumin subsequently established himself as a regular option at the Madrid-based club and gained valuable experience in La Liga.
He made more than 60 official appearances for Rayo during his time at the club, giving him considerable experience of Spanish football ahead of his move to Girona.
That familiarity with the league is expected to help Mumin adapt quickly to Girona's style of play as he begins a new chapter in his career.
At international level, Mumin made his senior Ghana debut in June 2024.
He has since become part of the Black Stars' setup and was selected in Ghana's squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
His move to Girona provides the defender with another opportunity to compete at the highest level of Spanish football while strengthening his claims for a regular role with Ghana.
