Ghanaian boxer Amadu Mohammed has booked his place in the semi-finals of the men's 55kg division at the 2026 Commonwealth Games after defeating England's Ellis Trowbridge.
The reigning African Games champion produced an impressive performance to claim a 4-1 split decision victory, earning a place in the last four of the competition.
By reaching the semi-finals, Amadu has assured Ghana of at least a bronze medal, becoming the country's second medallist at the ongoing Games.
The Ghanaian will now face Australia's Jye Dixon in the semi-finals on Friday, July 31, with a place in the final at stake. A victory would guarantee him at least a silver medal while keeping his hopes of winning Commonwealth Games gold alive.
Meanwhile, fellow Ghanaian boxer Jibril Muntari exited the competition after suffering a unanimous points defeat to Northern Ireland's Garyn McAllister in the men's 90kg quarter-finals.
The loss brought Muntari's Commonwealth Games campaign to an end, denying him the opportunity to contest for a medal.
