England manager Thomas Tuchel has issued a strong warning to Ghana ahead of their highly anticipated 2026 FIFA World Cup Group L meeting on Tuesday, stressing his side’s intent to maintain momentum after a winning start.
The Three Lions arrive in a confident mood following a lively 4-2 victory over Croatia, while Ghana also opened their campaign on a positive note with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Panama, secured by Caleb Yirenkyi’s decisive strike.
Speaking before the encounter, Tuchel acknowledged the challenge posed by the Black Stars, describing Ghana as one of the most demanding opponents in the group despite England’s early success.
“It’s bad news for Ghana because we will be very motivated,” the German trainer said.
“We are playing in one of the most difficult groups, and Ghana is a traditional top football country with outstanding players. Ghana play with a lot of physicality, quality and speed. They don’t mind if they don’t have the ball.”
The fixture has generated significant global interest, with both sides viewed as strong contenders to progress from Group L as the tournament gathers pace in North America.
Kick-off is set for 20:00 GMT, with Ghana knowing that another positive result would strengthen their position heading into their final group match on June 27 in Philadelphia. The Black Stars are aiming to reach the World Cup knockout stages for the first time since 2010.
