The highly anticipated launch of this year’s Millennium Marathon signals the start of what is shaping up to be one of the most dynamic editions of the half marathon to date.
Scheduled for September 6, 2025, in Accra, the event aims to draw a larger pool of international elite athletes, along with participants from global NGOs running in support of various charitable causes.
Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation is expected to attend the launch as the Special Guest of Honour. He will be joined by top dignitaries, sponsors, international partners, and key stakeholders from both the sports and health sectors. The Minister, who was recently visited by the Millennium Marathon Sports team, expressed enthusiasm about being part of the prestigious event.
The official launch of the 2025 Millennium Marathon is slated for Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 10:00 AM, at the Press Center of the Accra Sports Stadium.
Speaking ahead of the launch, Ernest Buamah, General Manager of the Millennium Marathon, emphasized the crucial role of media in driving awareness. “Media presence and coverage will be instrumental in highlighting our mission to promote health, fitness, tourism, and positive social change through sports,” he said.
The launch event will feature the unveiling of this year’s theme and logo, announcements of new partnerships, and a preview of exciting activities leading up to race day.
