Sporty Group has announced the upcoming launch of SportyFM, Ghana’s first-ever 24-hour sports radio station, which will begin live broadcasting on January 20, 2025.
The new station aims to revolutionize sports broadcasting in Ghana by providing round-the-clock coverage of both local and international sporting events.
With the tagline “The Voice of Sport,” SportyFM promises to offer listeners expert commentary, live updates, and in-depth analysis from a star-studded team of seasoned journalists and sports pundits.
Speaking on the launch, Gary Al-Smith, the station’s head and Regional Content Lead for Sporty Group in Ghana, described the initiative as a game-changer in Ghana’s sports media landscape.
“SportyFM represents a bold step forward for sports broadcasting in Ghana, and I’m honored to work with such a talented team to deliver world-class content to our audience. It’s a dream come true,” Gary said.
The station will initially broadcast in Accra on 106.1 FM, Kumasi on 91.3 FM, and Takoradi on 102.5 FM. It will focus on delivering live coverage of major global sporting events, including the Premier League, LaLiga, NBA, Formula 1, and local leagues like the Ghana Premier League.
