Ghana Premier League side, Hearts of Oak are reportedly close to securing the services of former Ghana international midfielder Mubarak Wakaso.
Per multiple media reports, the experienced player is expected to join the Phobian team on a short-term contract for the second half of the 2024/25 league season.
Wakaso has been a free agent since January 2024, following his departure from Chinese Super League club Shenzhen FC.
Prior to leaving Shenzhen, he returned briefly after a loan spell at Belgian outfit KAS Eupen, where he made 10 appearances across various competitions.
Known for his stints at several top European clubs, including Villarreal, Espanyol, Celtic FC, and Deportivo Alaves, Wakaso brings a wealth of experience and skill.
His addition is anticipated to enhance the quality and leadership of the Hearts of Oak squad.
On the international stage, Wakaso has had a distinguished career, representing Ghana in several Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Since his debut for the Black Stars on October 13, 2012, he has earned 70 caps and scored 13 goals.
