Hearts of Oak: Midfielder Salim Adams reveals strategy behind hard-fought win against Medeama SC

Hearts of Oak midfielder Salim Adams has shared insights into the team’s tactical approach that led to their 2-0 victory over Medeama Sporting Club in the Ghana Premier League on Friday night.

Adams, who played a crucial role in the Week 9 fixture of the 2024/25 Ghanaian top-flight league season, impressed with his performance and was awarded Man of the Match.

In a post-match interview, Salim Adams explained that Hearts of Oak’s success was due to a two-part strategy: focusing on defense in the first half and shifting to an attacking style in the second.

“We are all feeling great. We didn’t start the season well so we are pushing to the top. This is the strategy we came in with. We decided to defend in the first half and attack them in the second half and we got the results,” Salim Adams said.

Both teams maintained a strong defense in the first half, leading to a goalless draw by halftime. The intensity remained high as each side returned after the break, eager to make a breakthrough.

Hearts of Oak finally broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute when forward Kwabena Boateng scored the opener with a well-executed play. This goal shifted the game’s momentum, putting Medeama on the back foot.

Mawuli Wayo then sealed the victory in the 87th minute with a second goal, securing all three points for Hearts of Oak and marking a decisive win.

The victory lifts Hearts of Oak’s standing in the league and boosts their confidence as they aim to continue their climb up the table.
