Ghana defender, Mohammed Salisu featured for the full 90 minutes as AS Monaco secured a 2-1 victory over Montpellier in a French Ligue 1 clash at Stade Louis II on Saturday night.
Montpellier took the lead in the 16th minute when Congolese midfielder Rabby Nzingoula scored, assisted by Akor Adams.
However, AS Monaco responded in the 32nd minute, with Folarin Balogun equalizing after being set up by Breel Embolo, bringing the score to 1-1 at halftime.
Monaco dominated the second half and eventually found a late winner through substitute Lamine Camara, who scored deep into stoppage time.
Montpellier ended the match with 10 men after Tanguy Coulibaly was shown a red card.
Salisu was named the standout performer of the game based on statistics. The former Southampton defender completed 74 of his 87 passes—the highest in the match—and won five of his six tackles.
He also excelled in duels, winning seven out of nine on the ground and all five of his aerial challenges.
Salisu has made five appearances for AS Monaco this season across all competitions. He is expected to be included in the Ghana Black Stars squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Sudan next month.
