Vincent Torgah wins West Coast PGA Championship

Vincent Torgah clinched the title at the 2024 West Coast PGA Championship, hosted at Celebrity Golf Club in Sakumono.

The tournament, which took place under challenging conditions with strong winds and persistent rain, saw Torgah demonstrate exceptional skill and determination to emerge as the winner.

The three-day event, which began on August 21, featured fifty golfers, including forty-two regular professionals, twelve seniors, and three ladies. Despite the tough weather, Torgah remained steady, posting scores of 71, 69, and 71 to secure the victory.

Torgah faced strong competition from experienced golfers like Alfred Kwame from Achimota Golf Club, E.K. Owusu, J. Klah, V. Coffie, Francis Torgah, and Kojo Barnini. However, his consistent performance throughout the tournament earned him his third win in the series, ahead of the main event scheduled for November.

After receiving his winner's cheque, a jubilant Torgah spoke to the media, acknowledging the tournament's difficulty due to the challenging course and weather. He also emphasized the valuable lessons learned, expressing optimism about building on his success in the upcoming PGA playoffs.

Alfred Kwame finished in second place with scores of 71, 71, and 72, while E.K. Owusu secured third, ending with a total score of 216 over three days. J. Klah and V. Coffie completed the top five.

In the senior category, Emos Korblah emerged victorious after two days of play, finishing with a score of 147. He narrowly defeated Robert Degbe and Teye Lartey of the Center of the World Golf Club, who took second and third places, respectively.

In the Ladies' category, Jessica Tei of Achimota Golf Club claimed the top spot, outplaying competitors Mercy Werner and Felicity Gyeabour over the two-day competition.
