Ghana coach, Otto Addo, is bracing for a challenging match against Niger in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The Black Stars, placed in Group F with Sudan, Angola, and Niger, face an upcoming encounter against a resilient opponent.
Despite Niger's recent performance struggles, Addo remains cautious about their competitiveness.
"They haven’t had a good run in their last several matches—winning one, drawing a few, and losing the rest," Addo noted in an interview with the Ghana FA website.
"However, their losses have been narrow, which indicates their resilience. It's going to be a tough game. Other teams have found it difficult against Niger, and we expect the same challenge. We need to perform at our peak to secure victories."
Reflecting on the competitive nature of African football, Addo stressed the unpredictability and strength of teams traditionally considered underdogs.
"There are no small teams in Africa anymore. Even the so-called unknown teams have caused upsets in recent AFCON tournaments," Addo remarked. "We have the quality to overcome all opponents, but every match will be closely contested. There are no easy games in this tournament."
For Ghana, aiming to clinch their fifth AFCON title, this campaign under Otto Addo's leadership holds significant importance. Their last triumph dates back to 1982, making this tournament pivotal in their quest to reclaim their status as continental champions.
