Ghana relay team have booked a place in the final after finishing 5th with a season's best at the ongoing 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
They did 44.32s to take a non-automatic qualifier slot. Final is tomorrow at 11:54 am.
This is the first time the young sprinter Mary Boakye, Latifa Ali, Gifty Oku, and Hor Halutie are racing together, they have the potential to be better and should be encouraged.
• Hor (far left) was spotted in the Upper West Region a few years ago and, with the help of donors, was fast-tracked to go abroad.
• Gifty (second from left) is based in Ghana and is at the University of Education, Winneba. This will be her debut race for Ghana.
• Latifa (second from right) is US-based at the Coppin State University. She's previously raced for Ghana at the 2021 Relays in Poland.
• Mary (far right) is also Ghana based, with the Armed Forces. Today also marks her debut for the national team.
