Afrobeats star Oluwatosin Ajibade, popularly known as Mr Eazi, has made a bold claim about his impact on the music industry, stating that he rescued the genre when it was on the brink of a crisis.
He shared this perspective during a recent interview with BeatFM.
Mr Eazi explained that in 2016, he recognized that Afrobeats was in a fragile and uncertain state, which prompted him to step in and breathe new life into the sound.
According to him, his entrance into the scene provided a much-needed spark at a critical time, a move he believes played a major role in propelling the genre to the global stage.
He said:
"I saved Afrobeats in 2016 when I saw that the genre needed saving. Afrobeats was in a precarious state."
The Nigerian Voice recalls that in August 2025, singer Mr Eazi and Femi Otedola's daughter, Temi Otedola, tied the knot in a private wedding ceremony at the Hallgrimskirkja Church in Reykjavik, Iceland.
The intimate event was strictly attended by Femi Otedola, his wife, his children, businessman Aliko Dangote, skitmaker Brodashaggi, and a few other guests.
