Nollywood actor-cum-politician Kenneth Okonkwo has paid a tribute to his late colleague, Francis Duru, describing him as a rare talent whose light shone brightly.
In a post shared on his X handle, the ADC chieftain and spokesperson expressed a deeply broken heart over the loss of a dear younger colleague whose humility spoke louder than his talent.
Okonkwo noted that in an industry where genuine humility is rare, Duru stood out. He praised the late actor for being exceptionally gifted, passionate, and respectful, adding that despite his immense promise, Duru never let his talent overshadow his character.
Reflecting on his time as a senior colleague, Okonkwo stated that he watched Duru's craft with admiration and firmly believed the actor had much more to offer the industry.
He expressed the difficulty in comprehending the loss of such a promising life, but found comfort in the lasting legacy and memories the late actor left behind.
He wrote:
"FRANCIS DURU A Painful Loss; A Talent That Will Never Be Forgotten It is with a deeply broken heart that I bid farewell to a dear younger colleague, a rare talent whose light shone brightly and whose humility spoke even louder than his talent."
"In an industry where talent is abundant but genuine humility is sometimes rare, you stood out in a special way. You were exceptionally gifted, passionate about your craft, respectful, and remarkably humble. Despite your talent and the promise you carried, you never allowed your gifts to overshadow your humility or the respect you showed to others."
"As a senior colleague, I watched and appreciated your talent with great admiration, and I always believed that you had so much more to offer this industry. Your journey may have been cut short, but the impression you made, the lives you touched, and the legacy you left behind will continue to speak for you."
"It is difficult to understand why death would take someone so promising, so full of life, and with so much greatness ahead of him. Yet, in the midst of this painful reality, we take solace in the beautiful memories you have left behind and the knowledge that your contribution to our industry will not be forgotten."
"Rest peacefully, my dear brother and colleague. You came, you gave your best, and you left a mark that time cannot erase. Though your time with us was painfully short, your talent, character, and humility will forever remain a beautiful part of your story."
"You may be gone, but you will never be forgotten. May Almighty God grant your soul eternal rest and give your family, friends, colleagues, and all who loved you the strength to bear this heartbreaking loss."
"Sleep well, young Ahanna. And may your memory be a blessing."
The Nigerian Voice recalls that Francis Duru passed away following a brief illness. The sad news was announced in a statement shared on his official Instagram page on Friday, where his family expressed their sorrow while confirming his demise.
