Gospel singer Victoria Orenze has called for a return to biblical understanding of worship, warning that the modern church has reduced it to mere song tempos.
In a post shared on her Instagram page, she questioned why people feel comfortable using their phones during praise but not during worship, noting that this reveals a flawed understanding of what worship truly means.
The 'I Get Backing' crooner emphasized that worship is not just a slow-tempo song with God in it, nor a fast-tempo song with Jesus sprinkled in the lyrics, but the sacred honor, reverence, and value we place on the Creator.
Victoria Orenze further urged Christians to return to the Bible, writing a prayer for Jesus to help the church.
She wrote:
"If what we now know about WORSHIP is 'praise n worship' 'fast n slow song' Then we need to RETURN!! We need to go back to the BIBLE! JESUS HELP US!"
"Why can we use our phones during Praise & not be able to during Worship???"
"This particular one off me!! I'm like ha! there is a problem o! So this is the understanding people have about the WORSHIP of GOD??"
"Worship is the sacred honor, worth, reverence, respect, attention, devotion holy fear, holy awe we give to the GOD who is IN A CLASS OF HIS OWN"
"Worship is the value we place on the love, sacrifice, suffering, death, ressurection, redemption, blood, name & power of JESUS CHRIST. It's not a slow tempo song with God in it, neither is it a fast tempo song with Jesus and Spirit splashed all around the lyrics"
"if we place value and give our undivided attention to earthly men (created) that we consider as great, how much more the CREATOR (GOD)!!!"
The Nigerian Voice recalls that Orenze recently made headlines after a clip from a ministration surfaced on social media.
In the now-viral clip, the powerful worshipper strongly criticized the habit of recording moments of worship on mobile phones, urging Christians to prioritize genuine spiritual connection over content capture.
She warned that those who focus on capturing videos will eventually have nothing of spiritual value inside them.
