Content creator Adebayo Ridwan, widely known as Bae U Barbie, has made a public appeal to Africa’s wealthiest man, Aliko Dangote, to feature on his YouTube show, 'Curiosity Made Me Ask'.
The creator extended the invitation on Monday while Dangote was delivering a keynote address at the Vision 2030 event.
Bae U highlighted a generational disconnect, pointing out that most of the billionaire’s recent public engagements were on traditional platforms that the younger demographic rarely consumes.
He pitched his show as the perfect avenue to bridge this gap, noting that young Nigerians are actively looking to invest in Dangote’s businesses.
"Most of the interviews we've seen you have been on platforms that my generation don't watch," Bae U stated, before playfully adding that he wasn't asking the billionaire to fire his media team, but simply asking when he would grace his show.
Dangote responded with a candid admission about the failures of his generation, noting that the youth hold the future.
"Honestly, the future that we have is actually you, the youth. We, our own generation, really, we have not really done very well for Nigeria and also for Africa. That's the truth," he said, adding that there is a need to sit down and share experiences with the younger generation.
He also noted that many young people are more familiar with former President Olusegun Obasanjo due to his active presence on social media.
Bae U swiftly took credit for Obasanjo's online relevance, saying, "Thanks to me. I gave him the platform, sir."
Dangote conceded to the logic, agreeing that he needs to face this kind of audience going forward, and confirmed his readiness to appear on the show. "So really, you are right. Going forward, this sort of audience is the audience that we, somebody like me, should actually face," he said, before confirming, "We will come."
