A Nigerian man, Muhd Hassan, has urged husbands to share household responsibilities with their wives, insisting that women deserve love, respect, kindness and time to rest.
Hassan said being a husband goes beyond providing money for the family, arguing that men should also take practical steps to make life easier for their wives.
He cited his decision to prepare pap for himself and his wife while she slept as one of the small but meaningful ways he shows love and care in their marriage.
“Tonight, while my wife was sleeping, I decided to prepare pap for us to drink tomorrow. It may look like a small thing, but to me, it is one of the little ways of showing love and care,” he said in a post on social media.
Hassan stressed that wives should not be treated as servants responsible for every household chore simply because they are women.
“Our wives are not our slaves. They deserve to be treated with kindness, love, respect, and understanding. They need husbands who are willing to support them with household chores and share responsibilities at home,” he stated.
He also dismissed the notion that men who help with domestic work are weak, saying such actions reflect maturity and a sense of responsibility.
“Dear husbands, helping your wives with housework does not make you weak or less of a man. It shows maturity, responsibility, and genuine love,” he said.
Hassan further reminded husbands that their wives also experience tiredness and need time to relax, enjoy life and have peace of mind.
“Our wives also get tired. They deserve rest, happiness, and peace of mind. Let us not leave every household responsibility to them simply because they are women,” he added.
