Media mogul and CEO of EbonyLife Group, Mo Abudu, has offered candid advice to women on relationships, urging them not to lower their standards or tolerate mistreatment from men who are not genuinely interested in them.
The 62-year-old veteran shared her thoughts during a recent interview with media personality Toke Makinwa.
Abudu stated that at her age, she does not believe in heartbreak, noting that if she cries, it is not because of a man but because of her work.
She advised women to accept the reality that they cannot force a man to be in a relationship with them. According to her, If a man wants to be with someone, he will show it, but if he does not, he is only wasting their time.
She urged young girls not to downgrade themselves for anyone, warning that a man who is not interested will sleep with them, deceive them, and lie to them while they remain stuck.
She also told women to trust their instincts when they notice signs like ghosting or constant excuses, explaining that such behaviour often means the man is chasing someone else.
She said:
"Heartbreak. Nobody can break my heart. It's not possible. Heartbreak. There's no such thing as heartbreak at my age. If I cry, it's not because of a man. It may be because of my work."
"Listen, you cannot make a man be in a relationship with you. If he wants to be, he will. If he doesn't want to be in it, he's kidding you. Leave him. Move on. He doesn't want to be there."
"You have to get over it, because you need to read the writing, guys. It is easy. Because don't downgrade yourself in front of anybody. And to young girls, don't downgrade yourself. He will sleep with you. He will deceive you. He will lie to you, and you're still there. Doing what? Pressure of what? Or be with a man, a man who doesn't want you?"
"You know in your gut that he's messing around. True. Because he hasn't called you for two weeks. He's ghosting you. He's telling you he's busy doing what? Chasing somebody else."
"If you see those kinds of people, leave them alone. Those types of people don't want you. Please, ladies."
