Nollywood actress Jumoke Odetola has opened up about her new calling as a minister of God, revealing that her assignment is not to preach from the pulpit but to tell an uncomfortable story through film.

The Yoruba actress made this known in a video shared on her Instagram page on Thursday, following her earlier promise to address questions about her new path by 10am on October 1st.

Odetola explained that it took her almost three years to answer the call, noting that when God places something in your heart, it becomes a burden that robs you of peace until you obey. According to her, the moment you do it, you feel a deep sense of fulfilment that is personal and not dependent on applause or gratitude from anyone.

She confirmed that she is now a minister, but clarified that her assignment is to tell a story that will make people pause, think, reflect, and see things differently.

Jumoke Odetola, while shedding light on her new project, disclosed the story's title as 'Daddy and Mommy GO', describing it as a sensitive project that will challenge and trigger some people.

She stated that her team initially wanted to shoot it for the big screen or a streaming platform, but because of how special it is, it will debut on Jumoke Odetola TV on Wednesday, October 7th, 2026, in October, her birth month.

She described it as not just her movie but a collective story, promising that viewers will be glued from beginning to end.

In her caption, she wrote that it was an uncomfortable story for her to tell, but she had to hearken to God's command for her peace of mind.

She noted that she was so passionate while recording that she didn't realise how long she had spoken and had to edit it down, hoping that even in the shortened version, the conviction and passion behind the project would still be felt.

"It has taken me almost three years to answer this call. When God places something in your heart, it becomes a burden. Because if you don't do it, you can't find peace. I don't know if I've been led to do something for someone, help someone.

And then when you don't obey, you're not settled. But the moment you do it, you feel a deep sense of peace and fulfillment within yourself. Not because the person said thank you or because people applauded you. It's personal. It's just about you. Exactly.

That is the point where I am right now. I made an announcement that I've now become a minister. Yes, I am. As a creative inspiration, flies in from time to time. But most times the ones you push out are even more than the ones you execute. But when it's a call from God, it is a burden. You will not be at peace with yourself until you do it. Which is exactly what is happening to me right now. My assignment is not to stand on the pulpit to preach with words, but to tell a story, an uncomfortable story. A story that will make you pause, think, reflect, ask questions, and perhaps see something differently.

And that story is Daddy and Mommy GO. If you know me, you know I avoid controversies. This is not a story I chose to tell on my own. It is a story that has been placed in my heart. And now the story is here. Let me also pre-inform you that this is a sensitive story. It's a story that would challenge some people. It would make someone uncomfortable. And then it would trigger some people. Everything about this movie is different. Before production, my team members actually wanted us to shoot the movie for the big screen, streaming platform, but then here we are. Because of how special this movie is, this movie will be showing in the most special month of the year, which is October, my birth month. So come Wednesday, October 7th, 2026, Daddy and Mommy GO will start showing on Jumoke Odetola TV.

It is not my movie. It is our story. Because I tell you, as long as you are human, it will definitely speak to you. The moment you are seated to watch it from the very beginning till the end, you can't even stand up. It's a promise. I assure you, there is something about it. And even when the caption is rolling, you'll still be glued. We did something there, so you need to watch out for that thing. And then when the movie ends, the conversation starts. Because this is not regular. The hand of the Lord is upon us. This is a very special movie. May the blessings of the Lord abide with us all now and forever. Amen."

"An uncomfortable story for me to tell, but for my peace of mind, I had to hearken to God's command. While recording this, I was so passionate about what I was sharing that I didn't realise how long I had spoken, so I had to edit it down. I hope that, even in this shortened version, you can still feel the thought, the conviction and the passion behind the birth of this."

The Nigerian Voice recalls that on Saturday, September 26, Jumoke Odetola had announced that she was entering a new season with God, revealing that she is now a minister and preacher of the gospel.

She addressed the numerous calls and messages from friends, family, and colleagues who noticed a shift in her recent posts, appreciating their concern and clarifying that nothing was wrong with her.

According to the Yoruba actress, she had contemplated keeping the calling private but decided to speak out, declaring that when God compels a person, they may delay, but they cannot escape the call.
