Veteran Nollywood actress Sola Sobowale has showered praises on the late legendary actor Olu Jacobs, describing him as the man who trained her to become the actor she is today.

The 'King of Boys' star made the revelation during the Wednesday tribute service of songs held in his honour.

Sobowale noted that many people celebrate her portrayal of characters in movies without knowledge of who shaped her craft.

The movie star stated that while people see her as a fantastic actor, someone trained her, and that person was Olu Jacobs.

She described him as a man of knowledge, wisdom, and selflessness.

The late Olu Jacobs is set to be honoured with a Night of Tributes and a funeral service scheduled for Friday, October 2, at This Present House, Freedom Way, Lekki Phase I, Lagos.

She said:
"When people see Sola Sobowale, they say she is a fantastic actor, but somebody trained me and Baba Olu Jacobs was that person who trained me. Man of knowledge, wisdom and a selfless man."

The Nigerian Voice recalls that legendary actor Olu Jacobs, widely regarded as one of the godfathers of Nollywood, died at the age of 84.

His son, Olusoji Jacobs, announced the sad news on Instagram, on Wednesday, September 16, stating that the family announced his passing with gratitude to God for a life well lived and fought.

The statement described him as a dear husband, father, grandfather, and uncle, referring to him as "The Lion of Lufodo." It confirmed that he lived from July 11, 1942, to September 16, 2026, and urged bloggers and social media influencers to respect the family's privacy during this difficult time.
