Nigerian music executive Ubi Franklin has shared his thoughts on the current state of reality show, Big Brother Naija, stating that the reality show no longer commands the cultural relevance it once had.
He made this known while responding to a tweet from an X user, @bizzleosikoya, who wrote that he had forgotten the show was still going on.
"I actually forgot @BBNaija still going on."
Quoting the tweet, Ubi Franklin compared the show to a successful artiste who is still performing and has fans but no longer drives the conversation.
He noted that while Big Brother Naija remains a big brand, its cultural relevance has diminished.
He added that sometimes being successful is not enough, and one must go back to the drawing board to re-strategize, reposition, and find a way to become relevant again.
"Big Brother Naija reminds me of a massive artist who is still successful, still performing and still has fans, but no longer commands the conversation like before. That's where Big Brother is today. It's still a big brand, but the cultural relevance isn't what it used to be."
"Sometimes being successful isn't enough—you have to go back to the drawing board, re-strategize, reposition and find a way to become relevant again."
