"Being Excited About Becoming A Wife Doesn't Make You Less Ambitious Or Stupid"  — Juliana Olayode

Nollywood actress Juliana Olayode has admonished women to let those who desire marriage desire it in peace, stating that wanting to be married does not make a woman less ambitious or stupid.

In a post shared on her Instagram page, the Toyobaby star in Funke Akindele's 'Jenifa Diaries', reflected on the societal pressure and shaming that women who desire marriage often face.

Juliana shared a humorous story about randomly seeing a "BRIDE" swimsuit her friend gifted her in 2024, which made her laugh after she had earlier given her unsolicited opinion about some women shaming another woman for wanting to get married at a salon. She noted that she wasn't even looking for the swimsuit, adding that God has a sense of humour.

She maintained that regardless of the rate of divorce, the stories people hear, or how difficult marriage can sometimes be, some people simply believe marriage is beautiful and want to experience it, and that should be okay. According to her, one does not have to want marriage, make it a priority, or even decide it is for them, but those who desire it should be allowed to desire it in peace.

The movie star further emphasised that wanting a husband does not mean one has lost oneself, and being excited about becoming a wife does not make one less ambitious or stupid.

She added that some women want God, purpose, career, impact, money, friendship, family, a beautiful marriage, and everything good in life. She also wished everyone who desires marriage a good partner and a marriage worth the desire.

She wrote:
"I'M GOING TO MARRY THE LOVE OF MY LIFE. Randomly seeing this (BRIDE) swimsuit my friend gifted me in 2024 on a day like this, after giving my unsolicited opinion about some women shaming another woman for wanting to get married at a salon made me laugh so hard. I wasn't even looking for it! God really does have a sense of humour."

"But honestly, regardless of the rate of divorce, the stories we hear, or how difficult marriage can sometimes be, some people simply believe marriage is beautiful and want to experience it. And that should be okay. You don't have to want marriage. You don't have to make it a priority. You can even decide it's not for you. But please, let those who desire it desire it in peace."
