Mercy Johnson Calls Out Power Oil Over Unauthorised Use Of Her Image

Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson Okojie has called out cooking oil brand Power Oil, over the continued use of her image years after the expiration of her contract.

The movie star made her frustration known in a post shared on her Instagram page, where she questioned why her image was still being used for advertisements without her consent or compensation.

Mercy Johnson explained that it has been years since her contract ended, yet the brand has continued to push adverts featuring her face without consulting her. She demanded that the company check her direct messages and revert to her team, warning that she would no longer tolerate what she described as "dirty waters."

In a follow-up post, the actress shared a video of a billboard displaying her image at Nana Plaza in Wuse 2, Abuja. The billboard featured her face alongside Power Oil products.

She questioned whether the brand would attempt the same thing in India with an Indian artist, asking why it was being done to her in Nigeria.

Calling on the public, she appealed to them to help her document any Power Oil adverts or billboards featuring her face, urging them to record videos with the date and time.

She wrote:
"Help me ask @poweroilng why? it has been years, I have not been paid or compensated for my image been used after the expiration of my contract. You are still pushing ads with my image on it without consulting me. Why? Please check your dm and revert to my team. let us not play with dirty waters. Enough is Enough."

"@poweroilng, can you try this in India? Can you do this to an Indian artist? Using their image without permission? Why? I ask again? Please everyone, anywhere you see @poweroilng ads, or billboards or anything with my face on it. Help me do and video and share saying date and time. Please."

"They have my face on billboards, buses and what have you. 4 years after my contract expired. The lawlessness. Can you do this in India? your country? @poweroilng. Why?"
