Actors Guild Of Nigeria Celebrates Joke Silva At 65

The Actors Guild of Nigeria is celebrating veteran actress Joke Silva as she clocks 65, describing her as an icon, a legend, and a woman of extraordinary grace.

In a statement shared by the guild on Instagram on Tuesday, she was described as a distinguished member of its Board of Trustees and one of the most distinguished personalities ever to grace the Nigerian entertainment industry.

The AGN praised Silva as more than an accomplished actress, calling her a trailblazer, a mentor, a mother to generations of performers, and an embodiment of grace. It noted that for decades, she has captivated audiences with her extraordinary talent, commanding presence, and exceptional artistry, demonstrating that true greatness is about character, discipline, and the lives touched along the way.

The statement also acknowledged her wisdom, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the advancement of the guild and the Nigerian motion picture industry as a member of its Board of Trustees.

Additionally, the guild also recognised her strength and devotion as she stands beside her late husband, Uncle Olu Jacobs, describing her as an inspiration to countless families and admirers. It noted that she is not just a star but an entire constellation, adding that she has earned her flowers a million times over and remains royalty in the industry.

The Nigerian Voice recalls that Joke Silva's husband and legendary actor Olu Jacobs, widely regarded as one of the godfathers of Nollywood, died at the age of 84.

His son, Olusoji Jacobs, announced the sad news on Instagram, on Wednesday, September 16, stating that the family announced his passing with gratitude to God for a life well lived and fought.

The statement described him as a dear husband, father, grandfather, and uncle, referring to him as "The Lion of Lufodo." It confirmed that he lived from July 11, 1942, to September 16, 2026, and urged bloggers and social media influencers to respect the family's privacy during this difficult time.
