Funke Akindele Shuts Down Rift Rumours With Kamo State

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has dismissed speculations of a rift between her and her junior colleague, skitmaker and actor Akinyoola Ayoola, better known as Kamo State.

The rumours surfaced after she was noticeably absent from the premiere of his cinema debut, 'StarLomo.

The Nigerian Voice recalls that the premiere of 'StarLomo' was held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, in Lekki, Lagos, ahead of its nationwide release on Friday, September 25, 2026. The event was attended by several Nollywood stars, including Odunlade Adekola, Lateef Adedimeji, Mo Bimpe, Iyabo Ojo, KieKie, Timini Egbuson, and Biola Bayo, among others.

Akindele's absence, however, sparked online debate among netizens, with many questioning the state of their relationship.

Quashing the rumours, the box office queen, via her Instagram page shared a trailer of the newly released film, captioning the post with high praise for the project and its creators.

She congratulated Kamo State and director Kayode Kasum, wishing them the best at the box office.

"STARLOMO Let's go see a good movie this weekend. Congratulations @kamo_state @kayodekasum I wish you all the best at the box office #starlomothemovie is now showing in all cinemas nationwide. Go see it!!"

'StarLomo', which was released in cinemas nationwide on Friday, September 25, features a strong cast including Kamo State, Ibrahim Chatta, Abiola Adebayo, Lateef Adedimeji, and others.
