Maverick singer Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has opened up about his decision to support his daughter Adaeze's engagement to her lesbian partner, explaining that he cannot control another adult's life.
In a post shared on his Instagram page, he reflected on fatherhood, freedom, and the limits of parental influence.
Charly Boy stated that at 50, his daughter has lived enough life to know herself, and while he can advise or speak his mind as a father, he has no remote control over her choices. He noted that she gave him five grandchildren and a great-grandson, and for that and many other reasons, she will always be his daughter.
He also revealed that she was in a marriage where she suffered greatly, and it was after leaving that she entered her current relationship. He emphasised that he cannot choose her happiness for her.
The crossdresser also explained that his own father could not stop him from becoming Charly Boy, so he has no right to stand in front of his daughter and control the life she has chosen. He wished her happiness and everyone else happiness, noting that at the end of the day, love remains. He encouraged everyone to live their truth and find their own happiness.
He wrote:
