"A Child Is Not Content" – Mercy Aigbe Condemns Exploitation Of Children Online 

Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe has expressed outrage and heartbreak over the growing trend of children being exploited for online content.

In a recent post shared on her Instagram page on Saturday, she condemned the practice, maintaining that a child is not content and should never be used as a means to make money, gain followers, receive gifts, or get likes.

Aigbe emphasised that children are vulnerable and depend on adults for protection, urging parents, guardians, and adults to prioritise their safety, dignity, and wellbeing above everything else.

She further stressed that no amount of money, attention, or social media validation is worth sacrificing a child's innocence, calling on everyone to do better.

She wrote:
"I am honestly livid and heartbroken by some of the things I have been seeing online lately involving children. A child is not content. A child is not a means to make money, gain followers, receive gifts or get likes. Our children are vulnerable, and they depend on us to protect them. As parents, guardians and adults, we have a responsibility to put their safety, dignity and wellbeing above everything else. No amount of money, attention or social-media validation is worth sacrificing a child's innocence. Please, let's do better. Protect the children. They deserve better from us."

Aigbe's outburst comes amid the arrest of a 36-year-old content creator, Anulika Onyeanusia, by operatives of the Anambra State Police Command over an alleged case of child pornography.

The arrest followed a disturbing video that went viral, showing a woman allegedly using sex toys on a minor during a private livestream.

The Anambra police confirmed that four children, aged two, three, six, and nine, were rescued from the suspect, and several sex toys and other items were recovered.

The suspect's husband is also undergoing interrogation.
