Nollywood actor Jigan Babaoja has raised concerns over the growing misuse of herbal traditional medicines in Nigeria, warning that people are exploiting the practice for personal gain at the expense of others' lives.
His comments come amid the public health crisis surrounding veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, who is battling stage-four cancer.
In a video shared on social media, Jigan lamented that many Nigerians have turned traditional medicine into a money-making venture, often pushing desperate patients toward harmful or ineffective treatments.
He said:
"Nigerians are turning herbal traditional medicine into a way of making money and pushing people to lose their lives. Something needs to be done."
The Nigerian Voice recalls that Ogogo is currently battling stage-four cancer, and his daughters, had earlier appealed for help in finding treatment for him.
