Ghanaian dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has opened up about the breakdown of his relationship with Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy.
Speaking on The Honest Bunch Podcast, he claimed that the rift was caused by false rumours spread by his former team members.
Shatta Wale recounted how he warmly welcomed Burna Boy during his visit to Ghana, providing him with accommodation and cars to ensure his comfort. However, after parting ways with some of his team members, they allegedly called Burna Boy and claimed that Shatta Wale had an affair with his girlfriend while he was in Ghana.
The dancehall artiste said Burna Boy believed the accusations and cut off communication.
According to Shatta Wale, despite repeatedly trying to reach Burna Boy, his calls and messages went unanswered. He even reached out to Burna Boy's mother and manager, Bose Ogulu, but received only excuses. He expressed sadness that Burna Boy did not give him a chance to explain, though he remains happy for his success.
He said:
"They told Burna Boy that I was f**king his girl he brought to Ghana. He just bought it."
"I called Burna Boy's mother and manager, Bose Ogulu, but she just gave me excuses of why the artist wasn't answering his calls."
