Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has approved the payment of the first phase of medical treatment for veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu.
The intervention followed the actress's public appeal for financial assistance to undergo three urgent surgeries.
The new development was made known by the governor's Senior Special Assistant on Tourism and Entertainment, Martins Justice, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), expressing gratitude on behalf of the creative industry.
He wrote:
"His Excellency @alexottiofr has just stepped in on the health issues of our Nollywood legendary actress Mrs. Ngozi Nwosu to approve the first part of her medical bills."
"On behalf of the creative industry, we all thank you immensely, my leader. Ndewo sir."
Recall that The Nigerian Voice previously reported that Ngozi Nwosu had cried out for help, revealing that she needed N30 million for three lifesaving surgeries.
The family later confirmed that she was preparing for her first surgery and thanked Nigerians for their support.
