The Meeting Of Great Minds....

Feature Article The Meeting Of Great Minds....
MAR 19, 2020 LISTEN

In 1700, Adaakwaa Yiadom, DWABENHENE hugely assisted in the Asante victorious War of Independence against Odeefuo Ntim Gyakari of mighty Dankyira. That War was led by Kwaemanhene Osei Tutu Kofi who subsequently became the first Otumfuo Asantehene, Osei Tutu Opemsuo I

Fast forward,..... on 6th March 2020, a grandson of Adaakwaa Oyiadom, Otuo Serebuo, Dwabenhene; is greeted by a grandson of Osei Tutu I... Santehene Osei Tutu II, at the 63rd-anniversary celebration of the independence of the Nation of Ghana in OSƐIKROM, the town founded in 1701, as the new capital of Asanteman.

Now, back in 1831; the British and Asanteman, signed the ANGLO-ASANTE Treaty (at the end of the DODOWA War of 1826), which made Asante renounce ALL claims of control and influence over ALL the States, "South of the River Pra.." The area became known as The British Protected Territories. Asuo Pra became the boundary between the two. Ghana as a Nation started from that Treaty.

On July 24, 1874, (after the 1874 SAGRENTI War between Asante and Britain)...... the British declared their "Protected Territories" as the British Gold Coast Colony, and three years later moved their capital from Cape Coast to Accra,...... in July 1877.

So you had TWO Nations: Asanteman independent since 1701; and the Gold Coast...., a colony set up by England, implicitly to checkmate the ASANTE NATION.

In 1946, a grandson of Osei Tutu I, Asantehene Osɛi Agyeman Prempeh II, at the lobbying of Akyem Abuakwa Gold Coast Politician, JB Danquah, agreed to merge the administration of Asanteman with the administration of the Gold Coast Colony, in order to create a unified economically sustainable new NATION, agitating for independence from Britain.

In recognition of his statesmanlike decision, Otumfuo Asantehene was invited to Accra to preside over the promulgation of the new "Governor Alan Burns" Constitution of 1946, which unified the two Legislatures of the Nation of Asante; and the Nation of the Gold Coast. The unified Nation of Ghana starts in 1946. The Northern Territories, which had signed separate Treaties with British officials since 1896, joined in 1950-1951.

Now, on March 6, 2020, a 'grandson' of JB Danquah, Akyem Abuakwa Politician Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, who is the President of Ghana, celebrated the 63rd anniversary of Ghana's independence in OSƐIKROM, capital of the Asante Nation. And, he met the nephew of Santehene Osɛi Agyeman Prempeh II, who made the unification of Ghana possible in 1946.

Be fortified of your History. Be united by your History. Do NOT be nervous about your History.

SANTEMAN AYƐ BI PAA......... Uniquely African; unique in Africa.
