Beyond the Return Q A: Black Americans in Ghana 4
17.03.2020 LISTEN

As I meet various Black Americans living or visiting Ghana, I will ask each guest 4 questions regarding their stay in Ghana. Each question is geared to help our international and domestic audience create an experience in Ghana that will be fullfiling and rewarding for everyone involved. We believe this series will help improve Ghana / Black American relations and continue to allow Ghana to be a lighthouse for members of the Diaspora worldwide.

Today’s spotlight is Alana Morris. This is her second visit to Ghana. Her first visit was October, 2019 where her and her mom visited for 5 weeks. Alana also goes by her Ghanaian name Akua Appiah

Most Pleasant Surprise
How natural the country is. People are more connected to nature than the devices. More person to person interaction.

Biggest Disappointment
Internet connection, not being able to connect outside of the culture. WiFi is slow, power goes out regularly.

One Positive Tip
Save enough money before your trip. Plan a certain amour then double it! Prepare for disaster.

Bonus: have as many connections as possible and make sure these people are righteous, and authentic people.

One Tip of Caution
Be careful in how much you spend. You can get broke quickly. Calculate how much you spend and how much you are left with, be sure to budget.

Bonus: be careful what you pick and choose especially people and places. Be financially savvy but don’t be stingy. If you try to find a place for $50 a month don’t be surprised if you are in a shack in the middle of the woods.
