NDC supporters mass at Kasoa Police Station after arrest of Zongo Ward Organiser

Scores of National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters converged at the Kasoa Divisional Police Command following the arrest of the party's Zongo Ward Organiser in the Awutu Senya East Constituency.

The organiser's arrest is linked to his alleged role in locking up the party's constituency office during a protest against the suspension of Constituency Chairman Stephen Ofosu Agyare.

Awudu Gewah, the Zongo Ward Organiser, was among party members who opposed the swearing-in of Constituency Vice Chairman Alhaji Ousman Abdullah, who assumed the role after the chairman's suspension last week.

Mr. Gewah was invited by the police for questioning before being arrested after a complaint was reportedly lodged by the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunor.

Reacting to the development, the NDC's Awutu Senya East Constituency Secretary, Michael Kese Oteng-Pabi, expressed disappointment over what he described as the increasing involvement of the police in resolving internal party disagreements.

He appealed for restraint and urged party members to settle their differences through dialogue rather than resorting to law enforcement.

“We are all members of the same party, so if somebody has said something you don’t like, you inform us. We call the person, we discuss it, and resolve the matter. Do we have to come to the police station and do what we are doing?” he said.
