Why Ghana Should Learn From China In Fighting #COVID-19 As #EV-92

The COVID-19 caused by the outbreak of respiratory illness firstly detected in Wuhan, has been hitting China for over a month and forcing citizens to change their lifestyle and having enormous adverse effects on their economy.

Unfortunately, Ghana has failed, and factly been adamant to EV-92 (election viruses since 1992 constitution adopted under PNDC, a criminal organization) as a contagion and deadly (to our socio-economic development agenda amid fear, panic by thugs, political terrorists termed “vigilantes” employed by mainly NDC and NPP) to the Ghanaian society just as COVID-19 is to China and other world population.

Initially, the COVID-19 was considered to be phenomenal and circumscribed within China but, has rapidly become a global challenge forcing WHO to declare the Corona virus a global health emergency with cases of infections confirmed in several other countries and continents.

In the near distant future if, care is not taken, either during the #GHElection2020 or subsequent by and / or general elections may prompt a necessity for Ghana to be declared as a state of emergency due to EV-92 with migration and exiling into near and far countries for safe – haven for peacekeepers/ talkers sent to the ground to maintain and talk peace amongst the two dominant parties (NDC and NPP|). From the look of things most of the politicians and sympathizers of NDC and NPP have no capacity, skill or trade to have a life apart from their “party” in power land a contract, gain employment or enjoy some goodies since they only come to create, loot and share without replenish. In this sense, they have nothing to lose if the nation is set ablaze by the EV-92.

Countries that had been hit by the EV- 92 in elsewhere Africa have been those characterized by either ethnic- tribal sentiments, extreme partisan politics as well, as religiosity / superstition based on media polarization, historic animosity and fear, panic created by political terrorists employed by political parties to gain power by hook or crook. The geographical proximity to Ghana or by the Sub – Saharan regional integration, continental. In this context, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Kenya, Rwanda to mention but a few has been far the most reported situations of countries that have experienced an inexplicable number of EV-92.

By the beginning of the millennium, African countries with unexpected and gruesome murders, exiles, imprisonment, amputations etc. where the number of cases multiplied rapidly from hundreds to thousands in less than no timing reaching astronomical numbers until the latest Cote D’Ivoire. The worrisome of this aspect is that the virus is genetic (born – into; indoctrinated, browbeat), association, relations, greed, hatred, envy and above all, corruption free for all with selective crime and justice system by the police, national security details and judiciary – manipulative covering entire country that constitute 16 regions with possible serious consequences in terms of socio- economic growth of the nation.

Whiles Red China and counterparts are dealing with COVID-19 head – on, Ghana is accommodating EV-92 (equal deadly virus) as a propagandist’s mechanism to gain power. Red China has taken series of drastic measures to handle the growing number of confirmed cases, from isolating the areas where the virus was initially spotted to locking – down the worst impacted town, Ghana has employed EV-19 as a tool to gain electorarily.

Most events, meetings and conferences are cancelled or held behind closed – doors or locked – down. Schools and Universities declared closed, TV Shows recorded in empty studios, church services suspended, museums and cinemas have banned the entrance to the public. Even, beyond China, in Europe one of the famous carnivals around the world, the Vernicle Carnival, has been canceled with important consequences on tourism.

This is how leadership tackle emergency i.e. #COVID19 #EV-92 etc.

COVID-19, just like the black plague, one of the most devastating pandemics in human evolution, hit Europe in the fourteenth century killing millions of people, the government of Italy demonstrated a rich experience combatting the epidemic since the middle ages.

Competent leadership stand- up to task and deliver the people from fear and panic of sorts.

As part of the measures adopted by affected China and others, tourists, natives wear face masks as they battle a corona virus outbreak.

What program and resources made available by the government of Ghana to the mandated public institution and CSO’s, electorates and all and sundry in place to combat EV-92 with potency to kill hundreds, thousands of Ghanaians in case of chaos emanating from any of the listed EV-92?

Moreover, decision makers have undermined the importance of strict adherence to ethics of the media practice firstly, radio (FM & Radio) broadcasts, disparities, un-resourced- resourced persons in a haste to offer content analyses, delayed mech devices, spectrum that could spark the plugs to ignite fire. The media is a friend and could as well be an enemy.

The most bizarre aspect is that vigilante is deeply rooted in Ghana politics since the days of struggle for independence from the British colonialist. It seems that Ghana hasn’t learned yet from its past.

China should be a representation of a good example and hallmark for Ghana on how to identify, tackle an emergency like the COVID-19. China’s ability to mobilize huge resources, to centralize decisions at the core and to tightly control the behavior of citizens are indeed paying off in terms of a slowdown in the number of newly infected people in these days.

If, the government of Ghana can identify the EV-92, deem it as an emergency that could entrap the nation into anarchy it may learn from China’s confrontation against the COVID-19 like EV- 92 as such. The Ghana government must disburse resources, disseminate and monitor the appropriate government body to undertake this.

China has demonstrated mastery in leveraging technology (not religion/ superstition or juju) to prevent the contagion and keeping a constant, reliable and direct communication channel with the citizens. Today China is reacting well to the COVID-19 because, people realize that there is a clear and specific guidance (not all night long prayers to arrest any spirit of COVID-19) from the top and everyone is committed to take precautions by respecting (not disrespecting as Ghanaians do) the instructions of the authorities (not the clergy) with a clear and positive domino effect.

Ghana @ 63 under H.E Nana Addo Danquah Akufo – Addo should take the China emergency approach as an opportunity to rethink, think vast and think out of the box (central government) justified of taking undue advantage of incumbency. John Dramani Mahama was once an incumbent. He’s opposition today with nostalgic feeling to “right the wrongs”. Self-interests behaviors must be avoided since that could risk everyone.
