Feature Article Carry Your Own Cross Bawumia
JAN 21, 2020 LISTEN

What has happened to the 170 statements then-presidential running mate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia purporting to be needing answers from then-Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur?

Dr. Bawumia should do himself a favour by answering his own statements now that he has some experience as Vice President and Heads the Economic Management Team.

I intend not to waste my cherished reader's time by repeating almost all the 170 statements from Dr. Bawumia needing his own answers. For that reason, I am been forced to only re-echo four (4) of his statements which he must answer and are as follow:

Statement 5. "In dollar terms, under the NDC, the minimum wage declined from $2.12 to $2.02 by 2016 (i.e. by 4.6%). Between 2012 and 2016 (during the tenure of President Mahama) the minimum wage in dollar terms declined by 23.6%! In comparison, the NPP increased the minimum wage from the equivalent of $0.62 in 2000 to $2.12 in 2008 (i.e. by 244%)."

Statement 5 Question. What is the minimum wage in dollar terms now? Has it declined or not?

Statement 12. "The government is also accumulating arrears in payments to contractors and other service providers."

Statement 12 Question. Are you owing contractors and other service providers or not?

Statement 18. "66% of Ghana’s debt, GH¢69 billion of it, has been accumulated under the presidency of John Dramani Mahama in just last three and a half years!"

Statement 18 Question. What is the percentage of debt you have accumulated within 3 years? Has it increased or not?

Statement 19. "In terms of the dollar equivalent of the money borrowed at the time of borrowing, this government has borrowed some $39 billion in eight years. By December 2016 the amount will be at least $42 billion."

Statement 19 Question. How much have you borrowed in just 3 years with nothing to show for?

I shall return.
